Aims and scope: The Academy of Management Review (AMR) is a theory development journal for management and organization scholars around the world. AMR publishes novel, insightful and carefully crafted conceptual articles that challenge conventional wisdom concerning all aspects of organizations and their role in society.

Each manuscript published in AMR must advance theory or the theory development process in the area of management and organizations. Authors can achieve this objective by developing new theory, significantly challenging current theory, synthesizing recent advances and ideas into fresh theory, initiating a search for new theory by pointing out and carefully delineating a novel type of problem, or crafting ways to improve the process of theory development. AMR is particularly interested in interesting and important theoretical advances that incorporate thought from multiple disciplines and/or areas within management.

AMR does not publish reports of empirical investigations, including empirical tests of theory, case analyses, or articles primarily about data. These are published in the Academy of Management Journal. Manuscripts that are evidence based rather than theory driven and papers with a primary focus of bringing new perspectives to an academic debate should be submitted to the Academy of Management Perspectives. Finally, AMR does not publish articles about the scholarship of teaching. These are published in the Academy of Management Learning and Education.

Journal of Supply Chain Management

JCR zkrácený název: J SUPPLY CHAIN MANAG

ISSN: 1523-2409

Web: http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/10.1111/%28ISSN%291745-493X

Impakt faktor 2016: 5,789

5-letý impakt faktor: 6,795

Frekvence vydávání: 4

Přístup k plným textům: databáze ProQuest Central – plne texty od r. 1987 do současnosti bez omezení (funkční pouze v rámci lokální počítačové sítě VŠE)

Aims and Scope: An article published in the Journal of Supply Chain Management must make a strong contribution to supply chain management theory. This contribution can occur through an inductive, theory-building process or a deductive, theory-testing approach, both of which may occur in a variety of ways (for example, falsification of conventional understanding, theory-building through conceptual development or inductive or qualitative research, initial empirical testing of a theory, theoretically based meta analysis or constructive replication that clarifies the boundaries or range of a theory). Manuscripts should explicitly convey the theoretical contribution relative to the existing supply chain management literature and, where appropriate, the existing literature outside of supply chain management (for example, management theory, psychology, economics).

Manuscripts published in JSCM must also make strong empirical contributions. While purely conceptual manuscripts are welcomed, these papers must significantly advance theory in the field of supply chain management and need to be strongly grounded in extant theory and relevant literature. For most empirical manuscripts, whether quantitative or qualitative, authors must adequately assess validity, the sine qua non of empirical research. Appropriate research techniques include:

  • Statistical analysis of survey research, including, but not limited to: Structural equation modeling; ANOVA and MANOVA; Cluster analysis; Regression analysis.
  • High-quality case study, structured interview or ethnographic research that is used to augment other empirical data from the same study or is used as the primary methodology to test hypotheses or build grounded theory;
  • Laboratory and field experiments;
  • Secondary data analysis, including archival studies, meta analysis and content analysis;
  • Conceptual theory-building;
  • Social network analysis;
  • Other techniques as appropriate.

Finally, articles published in JSCM must also have practical relevance, although the editorial team recognizes that relevance to practice might be comparatively indirect for some manuscripts. However, manuscripts that are primarily practitioner-focused and that have managers as their primary audience should be submitted to a practitioner-oriented journal.

Aims and Scope: Journal of Marketing (JM), a bimonthly publication of the American Marketing Association (AMA), is one of the premier refereed scholarly journals of the marketing discipline. Since its founding in 1936, JM has played a significant role in the dissemination of marketing knowledge grounded in scholarly research, as well as in shaping the content and boundaries of the discipline. Two AMA objectives have a direct bearing on the publication policies of JM: (1) to lead in the development, dissemination, and implementation of marketing concepts, practice, and information and (2) to probe and promote the use of marketing concepts by business, not-for-profit, and other institutions for the betterment of society.

The editorial objectives of JM are (1) to advance the science and practice of marketing (to make a difference by adding to what we know about marketing phenomena and changing how we study and practice marketing) and (2) to serve as a bridge between the scholarly and the practical, each of which has a vital stake in what’s happening on the other side.

Every discipline needs a broad-based journal that can serve as a vehicle for the publication of papers that have the potential to make a significant contribution to knowledge in any area of marketing. JM is positioned as the premier, broad-based, scholarly journal of the marketing discipline, focusing on substantive issues in marketing and marketing management.

The target audience for JM articles are thoughtful marketing academicians and practitioners. The word „thoughtful“ in the statement of target audience has important implications. It implies that the reader, whether academician or practitioner, is knowledgeable about the state of the art of the topic areas covered in JM.

Journal of Operations Management

JCR zkrácený název: J OPER MANAG

ISSN: 0272-6963

Web: http://www.journals.elsevier.com/journal-of-operations-management/

Impakt faktor 2016: 5,207

5-letý impakt faktor: 8,618

Frekvence vydávání: 6

Přístup k plným textům: Národní technická knihovna (Elsevier SD Freedom Collection, dostupné od 1980)

Aims and Scope: JOM’s distinctive emphasis is on the management of operations and supply chains. Accordingly, the aim of JOM is to enhance the field of OM/SCM and develop generalizable theory, typically through the identification, analysis, and theorization of real OM/SCM problems.

JOM seeks research that can help the audience develop a better conceptual base for understanding OM/SCM. The focus of articles for JOM should be on the managerial situation or the theory being studied rather than the solution techniques being developed or used. Highest priority is thus given to studies that are anchored in the real world and build, extend or test generalizable theories or frameworks of managerial significance. Most often such studies result from identifying an actual, new managerial situation for which existing theory is inadequate, thereby resulting in an addition to theory or testing multiple theories against actual managerial situations to determine their relevance.

General topics covered by the journal, while not exclusive, include the following: Operations processes in manufacturing and service organizations; Upstream supply management; Downstream demand management; Operations strategy and policy; Product and service design and development; Manufacturing and service systems design; Technology management for operations; Multi-site operations management; Capacity planning and analysis; Operations planning, scheduling and control; Project management; Human resource management for operations; Work design, measurement and improvement; Performance measurement and productivity; Quality management; Purchasing/sourcing management; Materials and inventory management; Logistics, transportation, distribution, and materials handling; International and comparative operations; Operations and information management; Sustainable supply chain operations; Humanitarian/disaster relief operations; Regulatory and environmental issues in operations.

Aims and scope: he Academy of Management Perspectives (AMP) publishes articles and symposia that address important issues concerning management and business. AMP articles and symposia are aimed at the non-specialist academic reader with a secondary audience that include existing and future „thought leaders.“ A distinctive aspect of AMP articles is a focus on evidence rather than the development of theory. Management research has expanded significantly in recent decades, making it difficult for scholars to follow advances in the multiple, specialized subfields. The Academy of Management Perspectives addresses this by publishing important work that synthesizes and translates theoretical and empirical research in management’s distinct sub-fields in an authoritative evidential manner that makes these findings accessible for scholars outside that subfield. Research suitable for publication in AMP includes: (a) reviews of what we already know; (b) integration of diverse theories and empirical findings that inform in a new and interesting way; (c) forward-looking expositions that integrate and articulate existing theory and findings with new and provocative ideas; and (d) integration of theory and research in management with related advances in other non-management sciences and disciplines.

Aims and Scope: Organizational Research Methods (ORM), peer-reviewed and published quarterly, brings relevant methodological developments to a wide range of researchers in organizational and management studies and promotes a more effective understanding of current and new methodologies and their application in organizational settings. ORM has positioned itself among elite scholarly journals, known for high-quality manuscripts from the qualitative and quantitative domains, micro and macro perspectives.

Organizational Research Methods was established to bring relevant methodological developments to the attention of a broad range of researchers working in areas represented within the domains of the organizational sciences. An important goal of ORM is to promote a more effective understanding of current and new methodologies as applied in organizational research. Thus, articles should be understandable to a general audience and should assume background knowledge consistent with methodological and statistical training provided in contemporary organizational sciences doctoral programs.

Several types of articles are appropriate for ORM. One type of article addresses questions about existing quantitative and qualitative methods and research designs currently used by organizational researchers and may involve a comparison of alternative available methods. Articles of this nature should focus on the relative strengths and weaknesses of the analytical technique(s) presented. A second type of article demonstrates new applications of existing quantitative or qualitative methods to substantive questions in organizational research. These articles should address the manner in which the new applications advance understanding of organizational research. A third type of article introduces methodological developments or techniques from other disciplines to organizational researchers. Aims and scope: The Journal of Financial Economics began a new section containing applied papers and case studies in 1989. This section provides a high-quality professional outlet for scholarly studies of actual cases, events or practice. Such phenomena provide a rich source of data that illustrate or challenge accepted theory and lead to new insights about the world. These studies currently have few professional outlets, and with this section The Journal of Financial Economics takes a leading role in encouraging such work. Applications and case study papers are often different in form, scope and content and can be more conjectural. The papers deal with issues that are often less quantifiable, more descriptive and normative than usual. Papers that raise a new question or pose an old one in an innovative way and papers that test theories in specialized ways or document interesting phenomena which are likely to stimulate new research are emphasized.
